Notice of 2011 Annual Meeting and Election of Directors

The Annual Meeting and Board Member Elections for Lamar Little League will be held on Thursday May 5, 2011 at 7:00 PM in the Umpire Room at George Park.  As required in our Constitution Article V, Section 1, "The annual meeting of the Members of the Local League shall be held the first Thursday in May at 7:00 p.m. each year for the purpose of electing a Board of Directors and Members, receiving reports and for the transaction of such business as may properly come before the meeting.  After the Board of Directors is elected, the Board shall meet to elect the officers.

Article V, Section 6 of our Constitution addresses Absentee Ballots:  "For the expressed purpose of accommodating a regular member in good standing who cannot be in attendance at the annual meeting, an absentee ballot may be requested and obtained from the Secretary of the League.  The absentee ballot shall be properly completed, signed and returned in a sealed envelope to the Secretary prior to the date of the annual meeting and the election of members to the Board of Directors.  The Secretary shall present all absentee ballots to the Election Chairman on the date of the annual meeting prior the conduct of the election process."

In order to accommodate those with games on May 5th, voting will be open from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m on Thursday, May 5th, 2011.  Absentee ballots may be turned in at the Umpire Room on Wednesday, May 4th from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.  The candidates with the most votes will be announced on this web site following the counting of the ballots.  Ballots will be counted at by the league Secretary and President.

Julius Zatopek Player Agent To help preserve the positive legacy that has been established at Lamar Little League and to maintain integrity of the league in its processes, decisions, and operations.  The members deserve a Board of Directors that looks out for the best interest of the players.
Greg Albright None I would like to nominate Greg Albright for a position on the LLL Board of Directors. Greg has been a Manager and a great volunteer for the last 5 years and is always willing to help in any capacity. He has been a valuable resource to the league and has demonstrated his generosity with numerous donations of sand and topsoil when we rebuilt Field #4. I'm confident that the tradition of baseball will continue with him involved. So please support my nomination for Greg by taking the time to vote.
Rick Dunlap Information Officer I want to continue giving back to Little League and LLL in particular. The Board is a challenging but rewarding experience that I look forward to again if the members see fit. Our family has been active at LLL since Tee Ball (5yrs) and look forward to a few more great years of Little League at LLL.
Jorge Carmona None Jorge has helped a ton with managing his AA team! I think he would be a great addition to the new Board of Directors!
Scott Schultz None

I have been involved in Lamar Little League for the last seven years, when my oldest son started T-Ball.  He is currently 12 and in the Majors and I have two other sons, one in Varsity and one in T-Ball ( he is 4) Over the last seven years I have assisted, mainly as an assistant coach, on numerous occasions.   I truly enjoy youth sports and appreciate the life lessons that
can be taught on the field.  Over the last several years I have not had the time to devote to LLL, but I do now and do not see that changing.  I am currently the president of Greatwood Packers Football and Cheer, so I am not unfamiliar with the ins and outs of running a youth sports organization.  My goal is to give all children the opportunity to achieve the goals they are capable of achieving, and to not look down upon themselves when they have given %100 and they did not win.
James Burger None

My name is James Burger and I have been a resident of Fort Bend County for the past 23 years. My wife Beth and I have been married for 14 years and have three children. We have lived in the Greatwood community for eight years. Our two sons attend Campbell Elementary School and our daughter attends Reading Jr High School.

In my professional career I have been employed with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office for the past 23 years. For the past 4 years i have served as captain of the criminal investigations division.

I have served as a coach and board member for youth sports organizations in the past and realize it takes many volunteers for an organization to be successful. I have two sons playing at Lamar Little League and I have assisted as a coach at the machine pitch levels and volunteered as an umpire at the minor and varsity levels. Serving on the board is the next step in volunteering in an organization that I plan on being a part of for many more years.
Jim Goble None

I have been involved with LLL for the past three years as a Manager or coach in the A - AAA divisions. I have two boys participating in the league and we have truly enjoyed the quality of the baseball and facilities provide by past generations of the Board. With multiple years of LLL baseball ahead, I want to be a part of assisting in keeping the league great. I understand the commitment that is associated with this position and am looking forward to the opportunity if elected.
Donald Hughes None

I have had the honor to serve as a manager on 3 separate occasions out at Lamar Little League on the AA and AAA levels.  I have also had the honor to serve as a coach and manager at Katy Pony prior to coming out to Lamar Little League.  It is definetly an honor to coach and serve as a mentor for these young men!  I am currently managing a team at the AAA level and look forward to the opportunity if elected to serve this league for years to come!
John Schroeder VP Uniforms & Equip. I would like to nominate John to the Board again. He has been a devoted and positive contributor to both the Board and the League in general. Every time John is in the park there are numerous kids who always find their way to John for some fun and laughter, which is ultimately what this is really all about. In closing, as a member of the Board I trust John to continue making the "right" decisions regarding the kids, the families and the league.
Bruce Palmquist VP Concessions Bruce has done an awesome job as VP of Concessions this year and is willing to dedicate another year to the league. Please support Bruce with your vote.
Russell Orsak Treasurer Russell is currently Treasurer and is willing to serve again. He has done a great job with the League's finances over the last 2 seasons.
Leslie Johnson None

Our family's involvement with Lamar Little League started in 2005 when my oldest son began playing tee ball.  He is now in Majors, age 11.  My youngest son also plays ball and is currently on a AAA team, age 7.

Being involved with Little League has been very rewarding, not only for the children, but for our family.  We have met so many wonderful people...life long friends.

I would like the opportunity to give back to the organization that has allowed our family to grow and develop into what it is today.
Jeff Galvan None I have been involved with lamar Little League as a Coach, Manager and Volunteer since 2007, and currently have a son playing in the minors division of which I Manage. Last year I had the pleasure of coaching a AAA blue/red/white grey team and currently coach a select team of very talented young men at Lamar. Our experience at Lamar has been a great one and I would like to be invoved with the board to help ensure that the future of Lamar is as bright as the past 4 years we have experienced under the current and previous direction I am also involved in youth football as Head Coach of the Greatwood Packers Freshamn team. I have been married to my wife Shelli for nearly 16 years, we have 3 children, 2 girls that are 14 and 11 years of age and 1 son who is 8.
Carlos Leon None

Having been invloved with LLL as a coach or manager over the last 7 years, I have come to appreciate the importance of having board members who truly care about the current state of the league as well as the future of the league.  Having 3 sons make their way through the LLL divisions, serving on the board feels like the natural next step for me.  I look forward to making what ever contribution I can to keep LLL the respected league it has become.
John Scarborough None John has been done a great job this year with his players and would be a wonderful addition to the league as a leader and decision maker for the next Board.
Hector Flores VP Player &Coach Dev I have been Managing teams at LLL for 12 years and been on the Board for the last 3 years.  Being on the Board has been a very rewarding experience.  I would like to continue helping guide our league and ensure we remain focused on operating the league with all of our players in mind.

I have served on the board for 6 years and have been honored to participate in watching our league's positive growth over that time.  I would like the opportunity to insure the traditions of Lamar Little League are preserved while continuing to focus on ways to improve the league.
Michael Pike None

I would like to nominate Michael Pike to serve on the Lamar Little League Board of Directors.  Michael's professional and volunteer experience would benefit the League tremendously.  Michael has been involved with Lamar Little League as a Coach or Manager since 2004.  He was the Founder and Commissioner for the Faith Upward Football Organization for 3 years, and coached Upward basketball for 4 years.  Last fall, Michael was a Coach for the Pecan Grove Gator Football Organization and he is now a Board Member.
Currently, Michael is an Economic Teacher at Travis High School for Fort Bend Independent School District and has been the Head Golf Coach for the past 8 years. Most recently, he was involved with Lamar Little Leagues'
League of Champions playing an instrumental part preparing the fields weekly, coordinating media relations, recruiting local area High School Baseball teams to play against LOC teams, and served as Game Announcer each week.  The success of League of Champions was greatly due to Michael's commitment, dedication, and heart for all children.

Michael Pike is already an asset to Lamar Little League and if given the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors, would use his expertise and love for the game of baseball to continue to make Lamar Little League an outstanding organization.
Kenneth Halligan None I have been a part of Lamar Little League for 4 seasons now and have built lifelong friendships in Lamar during that time.  I enjoy working with kids and my fellow coaches and would like to be more involved than just as a coach.  I am a teacher and coach and currently I am the athletic director at Baines MS in FBISD.  I look forward to many more great years to come at George Park.
