Parent & Player Information
Lamar Little League is excited
about the opportunity to combine our love of baseball with our love for
all the children in our community. League of Champions is Lamar Little
League’s name for the Challenger Division as outlined by Little League
Baseball and is organized by the Board and parents of Lamar Little
League. Each player will have the opportunity to strengthen their
self-esteem through the proven socialization benefits of participating
in team sports. League of Champions operates under the
“Buddy” system
where players will be paired with a Buddy to encourage them and offer
support when needed. Player families are encouraged to sit back and
cheer the players from the stands.
All players must have a completed
Player Form and
Medical Release on file with Lamar Little League prior
to taking the field.
All games will be played at
Lamar
Little League’s fields #4 or #8 every Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m.
The parking lot closest to these fields will be closed to non-Champions
Division families until after the games have started.
The League of Champions Division will consist of 4 teams with a maximum
of 14 players per team. Each team will have 2 Coaches and a Team
Parent. Players will be issued standard uniforms consisting of a team
jersey, hat, belt, socks and pants. The League will provide basic
playing equipment (batting helmet, glove, bat, and balls) however,
personal equipment is allowed following Little League specifications.
Team and individual pictures will be taken prior to the start of season
play.
League of Champions will operate
under the rules as specified by Little League Baseball’s Challenger
Division. League of Champions rules are designed to insure that all
players get a hit, all players get on base, and everyone scores. A
batter can choose a coach-pitched ball, a batting Tee or be assisted by
their Buddy. No score will be kept. We will celebrate outs by the
defense, however, all batters will take the bases. A game will be
considered complete after 2 complete innings of continuous batting or
after 90 minutes of playing time, which ever is less. There are no
practices, and all games will be held simultaneously Lamar Little
League.
The 2008 League of
Champions Season will consist of approximately 7 - 8 games and culminate
with a trophy presentation and banquet for all division players, Buddies
and coaches.
