Pitch Count Recording and Reporting

In order to comply with the new Little League International pitch count rules, Lamar Little League has instituted the following pitch count  recording and reporting policy effective March 24, 2007.

The Home team of each game (Minor Division and older) is required to provide an Official Pitch Count Recorder and an Official Scorekeeper.  The Official Scorekeeper and Official Pitch Counter must sit at the scorekeeper tables.  The scorebook, rule books, division rules, scoreboard controllers, pitch count rules, pencils and pitch count logs will be located in the Umpire Room in boxes labeled with the Field & Division name.  Many fields are used by more than one division, so make sure that you get the correct box!  The Official Scorekeeper is responsible for collecting and returning the boxes to the Umpire Room.

The Official Pitch Count Recorder and Official Scorekeeper should be in constant communication and should avoid all distractions.  Children should be kept away from the scorekeeper tables so that the records are maintained accurately.

At the end of every half-inning, a representative (coach or manager) from each dugout will come to the scorekeeper table to confirm pitch counts.  Any discrepancies should be resolved before the start of the next half-inning.  At the end of the game, the Official Pitch Count Recorder's record will rule.

At the conclusion of each game, the Official Pitch Count Recorder will total the pitches per pitcher and record the score of the game.  The managers and umpire will sign and date the Pitch Count Record.  Each manager will take one copy of the form, and the third (heavy card stock) copy will go to the umpire.  Each manager must report the game result (scores and pitch count for his team) on the Report Scores page of www.lamarlittleleague.com by 10:00 a.m. the day following the game (preferably the night of the game.)  The Umpire will turn in his official copy of the Pitch Count Record in a drop box located in the Umpire Room.

Pitch count rules are found on the Coach Information page of this website.
